Who am I?

I am a French to English academic translator and proofreader specializing in the social sciences and the humanities. Born and raised in the United States at the very foot of the Rocky Mountains, I have been living and working in France since 2013. I earned a bachelor’s degree in History and Classics from the University of Colorado at Boulder, magna cum laude, and a master’s degree in History from Princeton University.

Trained as a medievalist, I have extensive experience with the conventions of academic writing and referencing and a proven record of published translations with leading university presses and scholarly journals. Clients include Princeton University Press, Oxford University Press, and Brill Publishers. I have also translated numerous articles for the English-language version of the Annales. Histoire, Sciences Sociales, the most widely distributed Francophone journal in the world.

In addition to translating scholarly publications, I have translated numerous projects for academic research institutes, museums, and businesses. Clients include the French School at Athens, the Lille Museum of Fine Art, Chartres Métropole, and Labsterium (makers of escape games).

I am also a board member of the Association of Translators and Editors in the Social Sciences (ATESS).

I charge by the word for translations and by the hour for editing. Rates vary according to the length and complexity of the text as well as your deadline.
